This week we found out that adoption agency we are licensed through has named Michael and I February’s Foster Parents of the Month. This is awarded to a family each month and a “blurp” (I got that word from my mom) is printed in the newsletter for the agency. Our caseworker emailed us to let us know their staff had chosen us on Tuesday and the newsletter arrived Thursday. It was funny to us, considering, we definitely don’t feel like our efforts deserve many awards! Here is the excerpt from the newsletter:
This month, (adoption agency) would like to honor Michael and Katie Mears as the Foster Parents of the Month. Michael and Katie have been fostering a sibling group of 3 for several months and have done an outstanding job! These three children have had some special individual needs and the Mears have met their challenges in a successful way.
Not only have the Mears taken care of the children physically, they have made them part of the Mears family. More importantly, the love of God has been shared with these children. Each night, they have a chance to read the Bible to the children. What a blessing that will last for all eternity! Thank you, Mears family, for your hard work and dedication.
While we were honored, we pretty much came to the conclusion that the agency must decide which family is having the toughest time and choose them, in order to encourage them to keep on keeping on. 🙂
Either way, God has a sense of humor.
