Ode to the Swagger Wagon May 5, 2010

In August, Michael and I took the plunge and purchased our first mini-van. This was a “never say never” moment for me. Test driving the car was embarassing for me. I told the car salesman, “I never thought I’d own a mini-van at the age of 26.”
In late November we took in three foster children, bringing our family grand total to 6 people and a LARGE dog. At that moment I thanked God for the mini-van. It is amazing. Aside from boasting 12 cupholders (yes, 12), that automatic passenger doors, roof rack, sun roof, seating for 7, collapsing rear seats, I could go on and on.
A few months back, Toyota launched an ad campaign for the Sienna (this is the kind of mini-van we have) and the two stars of the commercial dubbed the Sienna “The Swagger Wagon.” I have been calling the van that ever since.
When the foster kids left we considered giving up the van but, alas, I will never go back. I love it!!! I don’t care if I’m a mini-van mama and I can’t drive the thing worth a darn (it’s so big I think I have run into large, inanimate objects in it atleast 4-5 times in the last 8 months).
My dear friend, Annie, sent me this link this morning on my FB. This goes out to all my mom and Dad friends, especially those who drive swagger wagons. It is hilarious.

We just caved and bought a mini-van too after much despair. I exhausted all other options but I too must admit that I love mine! Its practical on the outside and party on the inside. Ours is the Hot Mini completely equipped with Seminole spears going down the sides. Dubbed now as the official tailgate car.

After Sarah was born we wanted to buy a new car. We test drove the Sienna & I loved it, BUT i could not buy a minivan at 28! At 33 with 4 kids, I sooooo regret it!

Ok, That was hilarious!! I do have you beat though. We don’t have one mini-van, we have two. People think we are crazy, but it is awesome and so easy especially with 2 kids. Got my first at age 27 and second last year. Don’t have a Siena, but love my Mazda and Dodge.
