As Michael and I finished up his pastoral training at Four Oaks Community Church here in town, they were in the midst of a sermon series entitled “Four Oaks for the City” explaining the “distinctives” that make them who they are as a church and make them desire to plant a second Four Oaks site coming this Fall. I was sad to know I’d miss out on hearing this sermon as it is a topic which greatly interests me.
So many people (even Christians) are disturbed by the idea of submission or just the simple idea that, while God created men and women as equal in their reflection of God, He created them for very distinct purposes. I appreciated Erik’s usage of scripture which so beautifully lays out God’s purposes and plan for men and women. He could have easily littered this sermon with bad jokes (which he sometimes does in his sermons lol) but he didn’t and I appreciate that!
If this is a topic which even remotely interests you, or you think you know where you stand, or you think the Church is just plain wrong about, you should definitely give it a listen and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
